Applications of Liquid Crystals
Liquid crystals are today mostly known for their large application potential in displays of various kinds. Although this may be the largest field for liquid crystals presently, it is by no means the only area where they may be used. Liquid crystals are already important components in a large range of products, many of which are not as widely used as displays, and will most certainly find an enormous amount of new uses in the future. The era of liquid crystal applications has only yet begun.
Other application areas where liquid crystals already play an important role are for instance modulators and shutters, and non-linear optics.
